Who we are
GeePeeVee Pty Ltd trades as Barber Shop Insurance, under the brand Barbershop Insurance. GeePeeVee Pty Ltd is a Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR 1008568) of Community Broker Network Pty Ltd, which holds Australian Financial Services Licence 233750.
When we arrange insurance for you, we pass your details to Community Broker Network Pty Ltd. Its privacy policy covers how it handles them, and you can read it in full on its website.
What the quote form collects
When you send the quote form, we receive:
- your name, phone number and email address, and your business name if you give it
- your role, such as shop owner or chair renter, and your state
- the covers you ticked, if any
- whether you are insured now and, if you are, the insurer's name
- when you would like cover to start, and anything you write in the message box
- the page you sent the form from, and the time you sent it
The form also checks for automated spam. It has a hidden field that people cannot see, and it notes how quickly the form was sent. When it is switched on, it asks you to tap a picture.
What we do with it
We use your details to contact you about the insurance you asked about and to prepare quotes. If you go ahead, we use them to arrange and look after your policy. When we ask insurers for a quote, we pass on the information they need to price your cover.
Your enquiry is saved to our enquiry database and emailed to our broker team, so it is not lost if one of those steps fails.
Who else may see it
- insurers we approach for your quote, and underwriting agencies, which price and issue policies on behalf of insurers
- Community Broker Network Pty Ltd, our licensee
- premium funders, the finance companies that let you pay your premium by instalments, if you choose to
- the companies that host this website, store enquiries and deliver our email
- courts, regulators or government agencies, where the law requires it
Some of the companies that host the website and deliver our email may store data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected in line with Australian privacy law.
Cookies and analytics
We may use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. It uses cookies, which are small files your browser stores. It tells us things like the pages viewed and the general area a visit came from, not who you are.
You can block cookies in your browser settings and the site will still work, including the quote form.
Seeing or correcting your details
To get a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it, call 1800 556 777 or email info@barbershopinsurance.com.au. We will give you access unless the law allows or requires us to refuse. If we refuse, we will tell you why.
Privacy complaints
If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us, or contact Community Broker Network Pty Ltd's Privacy Officer. The Privacy Officer looks into privacy complaints and tells you the outcome in writing.
They try to resolve a complaint within 14 working days. If that is not possible, they will tell you within that time how long it should take.

If you are not happy with the outcome, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. It is the Australian Government office that handles privacy complaints.
